Union Springs loses heartbreaker in state quarterfinal
Union Springs was in control for most of Saturday night's NYSPHSAA boys basketball quarterfinal, but in the closing minutes West Canada Valley proved exactly why it's the top-ranked team in the state.
The Indians stole an inbounds pass and Jared Fuderly hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:40 remaining and undefeated West Canada Valley held on for a 51-46 victory at SUNY Cortland.
The Wolves, who led for most of the game, were led by Julius McClary who finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, eight blocks and two steals. Devon Brady added 12 points.
