Poet Karen Leona Anderson will be joined by her husband and fiction writer Jerry Gabriel tonight at Wells College as part of the college's Visiting Writer Series. Anderson will read from her soon-to-be-published collection of poems titled “Punish Honey.”
Anderson's book won second place in the Carolina Wren Press 2007 poetry contest and was a finalist for Switchback Book's Gatewood Prize. Carolina Wren will print Anderson's “Publish Honey” for release in Fall 2008.
Anderson is a graduate of the University of Iowa Writer's Workshop and received her master's degree from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English at Cornell University, in addition to teaching at the university and Wells College.
She has been published in a number of journals including the jubliant, Verse, ecopoetics, Fence, Volt, The Indiana Review, The Colorado Review and The New Republic.
A reception and refreshments will follow Anderson's presentation.
