An Auburn man faces assault charges following a fight outside a city bar, the Auburn Police Department said.
APD detectives arrested Kyle M. Brahney, 30, of 128 VanAnden St., Auburn, late Wednesday night and charged him with second-degree assault.

Police said a person was knocked unconscious after being punched and kicked by Brahney outside Taylor's Tavern on Washington Street just before midnight. Police said the victim was taken to University Hospital in Syracuse and admitted for treatment.

Police also charged Brahney with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration because he allegedly ran from officers who had responded to the scene, according to the APD

" You know some things have not changed, and its not just in auburn it is everywhere. People are still under the assumption guilty until proven innocent. People always want someone or something to blame others actions on. He is following in someone elses footsteps or he has had a run in with the law. That may be true but unless you have eveidence and know first account what happen. Who are you or i to judge. What if it were your child..Would it be your fault? It doesnt matter the age what matters is that you love them unconditional, and yes you will never agree with all that they do. But you will always love them. Think? What if it happened in your establishment? Would you want to lose your lively hood for an isolated incident that you had no control over? Saying that you could control and anticipate any wrong doing on your patrons behalf is just impossible. We all know that there is a chance of confortaion when there is alcohol involved. So tell me. The shootings in the schools, hundreds of children getting shot, wounded and killed as well as adults. Who do we blame for that? Because you can certainly not blame the school, because how are they supposed to know what goes on in every students mind and when they are about to blow. So in the defense of the bar owners, there is no way that they or anyone could have anticpated what was going to happen and they should not be punished for the outcome. In kyles defense, people shouldnt judge. No one knows what drove him to this. So until that is established before you decide he is guilty give him the benifit of the doubt. Think how you would feel if it were you or your child, is this how you would want people to react toward your family? "

" longboard315, true this happens everywhere, the scary part is nowadays they use guns instead of fists! Even worse some innocent bystander gets killed-just happened near us, 2 drunks-1 gets thown out, comes back with a gun and shoots a bystander by accident.

But I disagree that this 30 yr old will learn his lesson--if he hasn't by now!he has 3 life choices:
1. STOP
2. PRISON for life
3. DEAD
my bets are on #2 and #3..

" brew1234 - are you serious? Take a step back and think about what you just said. In the real world - the only thing a bar employee can control is what happens INSIDE their establishment and yes, its the bartenders judgement to cut someone off if they have too much. If its OUTSIDE, you call the cops. Besides, if a bar employee gets into any kind of physical altercation with a customer & something bad happens.....not only you have problems with the law, but its a lawsuit waiting to happen. And the bottom line here - people need to be accountable for their actions, period. It sounds like this guy (at 30 yrs old) hasnt figured out how to conduct himself in and outside of a bar, or how to hold is liquor. He'll learn one day, guys like him all do. And magicalwoman - dont hate on Auburn, this kind of crap happens on a nightly basis in towns & cities all over the USA. And if any of you want to see some real bar-fights, go to Southie (Boston) and watch 2 drunk Irish guys (straight off the boat) go at it. And bring a bag of popcorn & enjoy; its better than watching the UFC.... "

" LOL - Does anything in Auburn NY ever change? I don't know this person or the name, but it seems like it is the same ole same ole.

Hey has anyone heard any updated on Stephanie (Orourke) Bouvia charged with child rape and molestation? Seems like this one is swept under the rug.

Glad to be "far" away! "

" The bars in Auburn need to clean up their acts and run orderly establishments or lose their licenses. They are responsible for conduct inside and outside their business. Overserving is also a possible problem. "

" This isn't Brahneys' first run in with the law. Maybe a significant time in prison will benefit him! "
