Billy Owens, one of the most productive players in Syracuse basketball history, will have his jersey retired at the Syracuse vs. Marquette game on Saturday, March 8 at the Carrier Dome.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
In his three-year stint in Syracuse, Owens scored 1,840 points and ranks 12th all-time on the school's scoring list.
He led Syracuse in scoring average in 1989-90 (18.2) and 1990-91 (23.3).
Owens' No. 30 will join the jerseys of Dave Bing (22), Derrick Coleman (44), Sherman Douglas (20), Vic Hanson (8), Wilmeth Sidat-Singh (19), Rony Seikaly (4) and Pearl Washington (31).
He earned All-America honors in 1989-90. After being named to the Big East Conference All-Rookie team in 1988-89, he was a first-team all-conference selection in 1989-90.
He was named the league's player of the year the following season.
Owens was drafted third overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 1991 NBA Draft.
He spent 10 seasons in the NBA with seven teams before injuries cut his career short.
