Ahh, March! The basketball tournaments are nothing but fun, baseballexhibition games have just begun; the Billy Kufs Show is still No. 1 and Black History Month is done! Life is great!
The fact that city manager Mark Palesh has worked in so many different places in his time, it seems as though he wasn't at any one of them for very long. It makes me wonder why he was available to come to Auburn.
I wonder if Murray Lynch is going to send back the $1,200 that George Bush sends him.
Apparently The Citizen doesn't have anyone to cover the automobile accidents in the county any more, because there's been several lately and we haven't seen a thing in the paper about one of them.

Since then I have not heard of him or heard any mentions from family and friends that still live there about him.
maybe Kufs is not as well known as he/Karl thinks he is! "

Where there is a will, there is a way, even to communicate in a totally visual forum such as online.
BTW, it may interest you to know I have lived in this area for 25+ years, and I've never heard of Billy Kufs outside this forum, nor ever read anything he has written. I dunno, Karl, maybe his influence is more limited than you'd think? "

I have no problem with a Hitler/Kufs comparison. I'm not bothered by the problem of "degree" of hatred and misinformation perpetrated by both of these loudmouths, just the fact that they both possessed not only misinformation and ignorance of Truth, but they spread it through the media, which for some people is enough to "confirm" their own latent prejudices and bigotries and possibly act on them.
I didn't know Kufs was blind; had I known that, I would not have invited him into the forum. My mistake.
But I don't feel that I've taken any "low road" at all. Hate speech is hate speech. Whether you are the powerful head of State and have the power to implement your hatred into policy, or just a small-town demagogue, the potential to hurt and cause harm to people with your words--particularly if you CAN speak with intelligence or eloquence--is exactly the same, IMO. For that opinion, I make no apologies.
And for the record, I did actually speak to Kufs on the phone, and listed information and sources to inform him of the fact that Homosexuality was an intrinsic condition, not a "choice"--and he continued to spread hatred and bigotry of it. THAT to me is unrepentant bigotry. I can respect a man who tries to improve, educate, and inform himself. I have not seen that impulse in Billy--and that makes me genuinely sad. "

I once even asked him about you and he said even though he disagreed with you all of the time he respected you. Your slams are unfair. He is a hard-lined conservative and you should applaud his lack of apathy like most in this town, agree or disagree. Think about that. I am ashamed of you taking the low road here. And I made this post, not Kufs. "

Yeah, I think that may be accurate. He certainly doesn't seem too sharp, at the very least.

Kids may not know who Kufs is, but they can still read his words, see his bigotry and be affected by it.
"Intelligent" is not a word that springs to mind regarding Billy. Having battled him in the editorial pages on many occasions, I can attest to his ignorance and erroneous and unsupported opinions-masquerading-as-facts on many issues and occasions. Not as bad as DuCayne, but close... "

United Technologies has been seeking to purchase the Diebold Corporation. Wouldn't that be something, a huge military contractor counting/controlling our votes? Not that it would be much worse than under Diebold, but the conflicts of interest are greater.

Billy Kufs is the Rush Limpbahhh of Auburn--a hate monger who is as ill-informed and prejudicial as he is a sad spectacle. Whatever he is or does in his spare time interests me not--it's the poison of his words and the ignorance he spreads to uninformed sycophants like you that causes me concern for the future of Auburn and its youth. I took a quick peek at 12-15 counties in New York State to compare their cancer rates for men and women per 100,000 -- and it looks like Cayuga County is about in the middle of average. You'd have to take down those figures for every county, add them up and calculate an average to be sure, but the numbers were middling for the random counties I checked all over the state.
A more thorough way to get a full picture would be to do that same exercise historically, and compare rate of change and not just across geography.
But I'll leave that to the statistics buffs out there. I have enough numbers of my own to crunch today (back to it....) "
