Donate now, save later
While some people think that donating blood can be a draining experience, it is even more draining on a community when people don't give blood.
The American Red Cross estimates that every two seconds, someone in American needs blood. That need is served through blood donations around the country, and Cayuga County is no different. The demand for donated blood never ends, and though there currently is not a shortage of blood in the county, Red Cross officials say that doesn't mean they don't need it.
“You never know when shortages will happen and when you will need a lot of blood,” said Alecia Butts, director of finance at the Cayuga County chapter of the Red Cross. “But there is always a need.”
