I would like to thank the two men who helped my son-in-law and I at Blind Sodus Bay on Monday, Feb. 18.
Remember the story found in the Bible, Luke 10:30-37 about the Good Samaritan? My son-in-law, Shawn, and I met a couple of Good Samaritans. We were ice fishing at Blind Sodus Bay near Fair Haven. It was very windy and our ice shanty started sliding across the bay. We stopped it, but I fell on the ice, landing on my ice auger, cutting my small finger on my left hand, cutting an artery. I put a piece of cloth around my hand, my finger was really bleeding. We got our fishing gear together. I took my sled with some of the fishing gear on it and started toward the shore.
While I stood there along the side of the truck waiting for Shawn to get to the shore with the rest of the fishing gear, a Good Samaritan stopped and asked how the fishing was? I told what had happened, he said he would take me to the hospital. When Shawn got there, I told him this man would take me to the hospital. Shawn said he would load the truck by himself.
Another Good Samaritan helped Shawn load the truck. Shawn told this man what happened. He asked if he knew how to get to the Fulton hospital and Shawn said no. The Good Samaritan said to follow him and he would take him to the hospital.
Both Shawn and I would like to thank those Good Samaritans for their help. I would also like to thank the nurses and the doctor at the Fulton hospital for taking care of me. Those two Good Samaritans may have saved my life.
