Cato-Meridian's Dom Giacolone, at 96 pounds, and Nick LaLone, at 140 pounds, won Section III wrestling championships Saturday night at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
In hockey, Tory Cole led the Skaneateles hockey team with two goals and Keith Buehler added one goal and three assists as the Lakers claimed the Section III, Division II championship with a 5-2 win over Whitesboro on Saturday at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
It is the second Division II hockey title for Skaneateles.
The Lakers will play the winner of Queensbury and Glens Falls next Saturday in the first round of the state tournament.
In Chittenango, Weedsport continued to put the pressure on defensively as the girls basketball team smothered Waterville in a 49-28 victory in a Section III, Class C-2 semifinal on Saturday in Chittenango.
The second-seeded Warriors advance to the sectional championship game on Wednesday.
Also in Chittenango, the Auburn boys basketball team lost to top-seeded Utica Proctor 71-58 in a Section III Class AA semifinal at Chittenango High School on Saturday.
