I think what they mean si that, when P0rnography was made available as an outlet--whether in DVD form, magazines, whatever--that it acted as a sort of "pressure valve" for people who found it (thankfully) more convenient or prudent to "take care of their problems" in their own homes rather than prowling the streets for satisfaction. My oldest 26 now, watch & listened to his dad suffer with courts,visitation, and child support with his other children-my son & his 5yr girlfriend said maybe in 5yrs they will have a baby. They bought a house, new cars, they travel.
My daughter nearly 21 now, was very religious-way more than her parents. Her first time was at 18, then mom took her to the doctor for birth control.
Now 2nd son,23, wants to have all his kids while young, so far a 2yr daughter and a 4month son--he struggles daily, they work fulltime yet are always broke-its not as easy as they thought!
My 9yr old says boys are gross and she plans to adopt-after watching a baby being born on TV! Plus she sees her big bro struggling with 2 kids-hopefully she wont be a worry in a few years!

I tend to feel that pornography is generally a bad idea for people. I think it sets up unreasonable expectations about sex. This is especially true for people whose only experience (or a vast majority of it) is with pornography.
However, I am sure that when used correctly, pornography can be harmless and perhaps beneficial to some people/couples.
That said, adults are adults, and they can make their own decisions about what they would like to expose themselves to.

it's not that I dont feel for those needing the system when they need it--I was there once too BUT it was when NEEDED then get 2 jobs and support myself and child!
I agree with FG that back in the 80s the social workers were rude as can be-made you feel like a scumbag for circumstances beyond your control.
for those in NEED the system should be fast and immediate and the persons not ridiculed.
But when I watch my sis and many of those like her in the Auburn click-I feel its unjust that I bust my butt so hard to own a home, car, and to have cable! It sickens me when she visits and states "I only eat steak" and pulls out her food stamps, when at times we may be having a bad week from car repairs or unplanned doctor visits and we eat hotdogs!
Then homesite comes along and offers her half monies to BUY a house! And to top that Cars for Moms comes along and gives her a great car for 1 grand
(25.00 per month payments) and 1yr warrenty!
WHY on earth would she ever get off the system when all is handed to her??

Maybe for us (FG) we are more humble and those nasty people we didn't want to face for yearly renewal kept us awake to face our woes without living on the system! Just maybe they were trained to do just that!
