Stop signs replaced a traffic light that stopped working for much of the day Thursday at a major intersection in Auburn.
According to Jerry DelFavero, superintendent of public works, the traffic light at Genesee Street and Loop Road was reported to be out at about 5:30 Thursday morning. After the Auburn Police Department performed some traffic control, four free-standing stop signs were erected, bringing order to a usually busy intersection.
Repair crews spent the day replacing the old traffic light with a new controller and control box originally ordered for another broken city traffic light at the intersections of Osborne Street and Lake Avenue.
Repairs have been finished and the light is now working. DelFavero is hopeful the light as Obsorne and Lake will be fixed next week.

With the amount of traffic lights in Auburn, is there a reason the City couldn't purchase a spare? I mean, just in case. "
