To everyone celebrating their birthday on Feb. 29, from all of us in Finger Lakes Wine Country, we wish you a Happy Birthday.
We're so excited here at the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail because we're getting ready for our 25th Anniversary Press Conference on Wednesday Feb. 27. We have sent out over 200 invitations to press locally, in Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton, Albany and New York City plus to our tri-county heads of chambers and tourism offices, your very own Teri Bridenbecker and Meg Vanek.
The program includes wine tastings and light appetizers prepared by two Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty chefs from our wineries, Chef Sam Izzo from Sheldrake Point Vineyard and Simply Red Lakeside Bistro, plus Chef John McNabb from Knapp Winery and Vineyard Restaurant. Each chef will prepare their finest delicacies: steamed mussels with fennel, tomatoes, garlic and lemon with sambuca and bananas foster accompanied by an exquisite cheese display with local cheeses, fruits, crackers and baquette.
Our president, Bob Madill from Sheldrake Point Vineyard, will introduce the wineries. Ruth Lucas, from Lucas Vineyards, will talk about our history, various winemakers from, Lucas, Knapp and Sheldrake will discuss the spectacular 2007 vintage, barrel tastings provided and I will review our year-long events. A tour is being coordinated by the Seneca County Office of Tourism to the National Women's Hall of Fame and a few wineries. If you're a press person and have not received an invitation, please contact me at (800) 684-5217.
Our next Cayuga Lake Wine Trail event is Saturday, April 12, our 25th Anniversary “Toast the Trail” Celebration Dinner at the Holiday Inn in Waterloo/Seneca Falls, beginning with a sparkling wine and hard cider reception at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. a five course meal paired with Cayuga Lake Wine Trail wines will be prepared by Chef Izzo, Chef McNabb and Chef Fonda from the Holiday Inn, another Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty member.
Music will be provided by Johnny Russo, a three-piece ensemble. Tickets are $80 per person and are all inclusive.
Our Vino Visa Coupon Books are available. Sixteen winery coupons and 16 other discount coupons from accommodations, attractions, restaurants and transportation services from the area.
This coupon book is worth over $250.
