Neither of the Democratic candidates vying for the party's presidential nomination has the majority of New York voters' support in a battle with Republican frontrunner John McCain, a new survey shows.
Siena Research Institute on Monday released a poll showing both Sen. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Democrats, have 7-point advantages over McCain. Clinton leads 49 percent to 42 percent, while Obama has 47 percent compared with 40 percent for McCain.
In a similar poll last month, Clinton had a 14-point lead while Obama was up 2 points.
The Siena Research Institute Poll was conducted by telephone from Feb. 11-14. It involved interviews with 633 registered New York state voters and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
