Monday temperature not quite a record high; cold air set to return
The mild weather that swept across the region Monday fell a few degree shy of setting a record in Auburn, and it's also exiting the area rather quickly.
The National Weather Service reported a high temperature of 52 for Monday in Auburn, three degrees shy of the record for the day.
And while the air removed most of the snow cover that had been on the ground, a small blanket of new snow is expected to fall over the next 24 hours, producing about an inch of total accumulation.
