The Auburn Police Department responded to a report at about 8 p.m. Thursday of a man, possibly armed with a knife, attempting to break down the front door of a home at 88 Clark St., Auburn, and threatening to harm the resident, police said.
APD Officer Andrew Kalet responded and found Kennedy on the front porch of the home.
Kennedy fled on foot as Kalet tried to detain him. The chase continued onto Orchard Street, where Kalet slipped and fell on a snow-covered sidewalk, sustaining injuries to his hands and knee.
Joined by other APD officers, Kalet continued pursuit and eventually detained him in a backyard area between Orchard and Genesee Streets. After a brief struggle he was arrested. A knife was also recovered at that time.
Kennedy is being held at Cayuga County Court on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
Kalet was treated at Auburn Memorial Hospital for cuts to his left hand, cuts to his right thumb and an abrasion to his left knee. He was treated and released.

The same could probably be said about out-of-state families relocating to certain areas of Auburn. "

I can remember many years ago taking my dog (snowball) for a walk. Well, 'ol snowball must have seen a female dog because he went into a run around the corner and I took a spill right there on the ice. Not only did I suffer some cuts and bruises like this gentleman but I think it knocked me out for a short time too. I remember coming to and saying, "Here Snowball, come on boy", but he was nowhere to be found. I probably searched for the better part of an hour before 'ol snowball came running down the sidewalk and we were reunited.
But the part I'll never forget was getting back home and having Grandma tend to my wounds. She always provided the kind of care you wouldn't find at any clinic and her chicken noodle soup was to die for. I remember being so cold and how her soup made me feel warm and comforted. I always knew that I was safe in the presence of Grandma.
