Man in critical condition after being struck by train
An Auburn man was in critical condition Friday after he walked around railroad warning devices and was hit by a train.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said Alan M. Markley, 70, of Clark Street Road, had been walking west on Clark Street Road between Beech Tree Road and Routes 5 and 20 at 5:25 p.m. just outside Auburn in the Town of Aurelius.
Police said they were told by witnesses that Markley walked around warning devices and into the path of a westbound train operated by Finger Lakes Railway.
