Port Byron boys pull through

Down by eight points late in the game, Port Byron' Mitch David went 4-for-4 at the foul line and the team's defense did it's part to earn a 65-63 come-from-behind win over No. 8 Westmoreland in the first round of the Section III, Class C-1 playoffs on Wednesday.
With a 9-11 overall record to match their opponent, the No. 9 Panthers were led by Frank Smart, who racked up 26 points. Brad Anderson added 17 to help the Panthers earn the right to play top seeded Cooperstown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

“We fought and clawed our way to the lead at the end,” Panthers coach Chris Ford said. “The defensive effort won this game.”
