The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for southern Cayuga County, effective from 2 to 10 a.m. Monday, warning that wind chill values could go down to -20 degrees.
Forecasters say the wind chill is expected to be low enough to cause frostbite to exposed skin within 30 minutes.
At the same time, a gale warning has been issued for much of the Lake Ontario shoreline, including the portion in Cayuga County, through Monday morning. The National Weather Service forecasts winds will produce 15 to 19-foot waves Sunday night, and 11- to 15-foot waves Monday.
