A truck driver from Cato was involved in a serious motor vehicle crash that killed another person Wednesday night in the town of Richland, Oswego, state police out of Pulaski said.
State police had to temporarily close a portion of Interstate 81 as a result of the accident.
David R. Keith, of Old State Road, Cato, was operating a 2000 Freightliner Trctor Trailer when a 1993 Nissan Maxima operated by Alicia A. Spoto, of Pulaski, entered the passing lane in front of the truck, troopers said. As a result of the impact, Spoto was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
A passenger in Spoto's vehicle was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was in critical condition, troopers said.
