What did Kerry do with the medals he had (purple hearts) when he got home? I rest my case.

Whoever thinks Kerry won the election must be drinking too much Kool-Aid. If he thought he won, he would have fought it in court.

I think we made a mistake in getting rid of John Salamone. This new guy, Palesh, should go back to Utah becasue everything I hear from him is bad news.

The politicians constantly increasing taxes and Nazi laws are what's destroying America.

The House of Representatives and U.S. Senate automatically get a raise every year. How's that for controlling the USA?

" I read Hegel in German as well as in English for a philosophy class, but that was a LONG time ago -- you'd have to refresh my memory. Is he the guy who had so much influence on Nietzsche? (Well, and on Marx too, right?) What I remember is fuzzy at best.

Why do you ask?

Meanwhile, I hope no one though my digression into my opinions on female social interaction had anything to do with my thoughts on women being qualified for politics. As AJ and Karl have both pointed out, there have been women politicians who were just as bad as bad male politicians, and in just the same way, I might add, but there have also been good female politicians as well.

We can go back a good deal further for successful female rulers -- even before Elizabeth I (whose navy defeated the vaunted Spanish Armada and hance indirectly brought dark hair to Ireland), there were Amazons, there was Boudicca in Roman Britan, and I believe Penthasilea was a real historical personage as well. Joan of Arc was a successful campaigner, but died horribly at the hands of jealous and humiliated males who couldn't bare to live knowing a woman had bested them. I'm sure there were others too.

Eating apples is a bad choice! -- in that construct, taking the apple from Eve was an equally bad choice -- and show stupidity for being so gullible to boot -- does that mean then that men can't be President of the United States because Adam was so stupid? -- LOL!!! "

Karl, your post is definitely lucid and well thought out.

Yeah, Thatcher was a piece of work, to say the least.

Chiggybaby needs to learn a bit of grammar and spelling, agreed?

Chiggybaby, if you're reading this, be advised that your thinking and spelling need work. "

Another phenomenon that bothers me is people are there for you in bad times, why cant they respond favorably when times are good too and be happy for you? We have found that when its your time to have it go pretty good people seem to sneer. Mankind - we are a strange breed thats for sure. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Feb 7, 2008 2:27 PM:

" Despite being the graduate of a women's college (an unparalleled experience which I greatly appreciate), I find that in general, women are pretty rotten to each other. A lot of it is jockeying around in their relation to men (esp. those in power).

The "backdoor" approach was the only one available to women for so many centuries that many have ingrained "behind the back" strategies for getting things done. I find it very disheartening.

In particular, I have always found it painfully trying to play sports with other women because of this behavior problem. (I've played with all-female teams, with otherwise all-male teams and with mixed teams). In general I have found that if a male on your team doesn't like you, he'll just run you into the ground, but at least you know where you stand with him. Females will smile and act all friendly to your face, then talk about you behind your back or trip you when you aren't looking. Women in sports are CATTY and live up to the stereotype, at least in my experience. Even on the football team, which was the most "masculine" bunch of women I've ever known all in one place -- there was flirting with coaches for favor, there was cheating against your teammates in practice to look better to the coach, there was b*tching behind each other's backs, there was scapegoating when things went wrong, there were cabals of intrigue with "clique" players against people they didn't like today. It really made me sad to see because there was a lot of talent and potential, but no coaching staff who knew how to handle women players to get the best out of them and contain those bad learned behaviors.

Many men complain that women are devious and game-players, but this has often been the only role allowed us through history. You either grow up learning to play it, or trying to avoid it, but you can't get away from its pernicious influence.

These are my opinions only, and I am making generalizations, not applying what I say to every woman who ever set foot on earth. But this is my own personal experience. "

We called them man crazy. "

" I don't like Hillary Clinton because of her record, not because she is a woman. I am offended that anyone would still cling to such neanderthal notions that a woman could not do just as good (or equally bad!) a job as President of the United States.

If there is one thing this year's run-up to the elections has shown, it is that this country IS ready for either a woman or an African-American as President.

I still don't like Hillary, but it has absolutely nothing to do with her gender.

Karl, you know what's worse? I think chiggybaby IS a woman herself (though I could be wrong). Talk about the self-hating female....

vic -- I love your rule! I wish it were applied univerally.

The wrong way to use the "N" word: I disagree with you, your opinions stink, you must be a Nazi!

The right way to use the "N" word: The dictatorial powers President Bush gave himself when he signed the "National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive" on May 9, 2007 are frighteningly analogous to the way Adolf Hitler gave himself similar control in Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

How's that? "

" If you research and always look deeper and deeper, you also have to be prepared to change your opinion based on the new information you come across. Snap judgements are NOT always correct, and in-depth research will often show you things you had not previously known or considered.

AJ -- Right again on the subject of why so many Muslim countries hate the U.S., though because of the influence of the AIPAC and other organizations in this country, you run the significan risk of be branded a "racist" for saying so. But those are the facts -- it's been our government's UNCONDITIONAL support for a country whose government is as flawed (and hypocritical) as any that has so inflammed so many Arabic countries.

As for innocents leaving the country because they "knew we were coming" -- that's patently absurd. First of all because the poor in such countries seldom have access to the kind of information that even the poor in this country do. Second, the poor cannot just pack up and leave their homes there any more than we can here -- and why should they have to, if they are innocents? Why are we destroying the homes of innocents? How does that make us better than those who take such actions against innocents in our country? From their perspective, and it's a perfectly legitimate one to a poor, innocent person living in a country such as this, we are the killers and destroyers, when we aren't just moving into their countries pushing our ways on them. And we claim to be so in favor of cultural diversity!!! What a joke.

The actions of the government (or terrorists the governments in those countries allow to be active within their borders) in Afghanistan, Iraq or Saudi Arabia are no more the fault of the innocents in those countries than the actions of our government which those Arabic countries justifiably resent are the fault of the people who died in 9/11. That's a wash as an excuse. "
