Two years ago, the taxpayers of the Auburn School District, voted no to artificial turf.
However, last year, the administration snuck in Proposition No. 3: Building Capital Reserve Fund, which was approved by a margin of 279 votes.
They said this proposition was “to finance site work, reconstruction and equipping of school buildings and facilities, and costs incidental thereto.”
But didn't this sound very much like the work they'd have to do to install “artificial turf?” Yep.
And so, when the economy is in the throws of a recession and people are losing their jobs and homes because of the sanctioned ongoing JW Bush & Co. corporate-wide corruption in the financial industry, etc., they're proposing artificial turf - again.
And this is to the tune of about $3.5 million that will be included in another capital project of $14.9 million, which is on the heels of a $13.4 million project we approved two years ago.
And where is this “extra money” going to come from to build up their newly created Capital Reserve fund and/or artificial turf?
Basically, we'll get overtaxed - again - and some of the extra dollars will now (or already were) be rerouted from the fund balance account to their capital reserve - aka “artificial turf and goodies” fund, instead of lowering our taxes.
Again, we find it incredulous that this school board and administration are proposing to shove another artificial turf proposal down the throats of us taxpayers again.
What part of no don't they understand?
And did they forget that the AHS football team won the state championship, while playing their whole season on real grass?
We're confident that the district's spin will be “it's only going to cost ‘pennies' per thousand in taxes” plus “it's for the children.” Right.
Enough is enough.
It's your money.
