Local poll workers say turnout strong

The lure of one of the most wide open presidential primaries in recent memory appears to be driving strong turnout at local polling places, Board of Elections workers reported Tuesday.
Dreary weather has not kept people from getting to polling places in Cayuga County. Some voters have reported initially going to the wrong polling place because the county Board of Elections has consolidated polling places for this vote, but the voters were able to get to the correct polling place fairly easily. The consolidation came about because the form of the ballot required by state elections officials made it impossible for the county voting machines to include both Republican and Democratic ballots on the same machine. Because the county has a limited number of machines, they had to be grouped together.
