Obama offers best hope for a better America

Saturday, February 2, 2008 11:32 PM EST

This Tuesday we have a very real opportunity to make our country a better place for generations to come.
Barack Obama is speaking to huge overflow capacity crowds, and his message of hope and inspiration has our young people clamoring for him with shouts of “We love you Barack.” He just smiles and says “I love you too.” Funny thing is, we know he means it.

The New York Times said: “The historians can put aside their reference material. This is new. America has never seen anything like the Barack Obama phenomenon. Mr. Obama's message of hope, healing and change, discounted as fanciful and naive by skeptics, drew Iowans into the frigid night air by the tens of thousands on Thursday to stand with a man who is not just running for president, but trying to build a new type of political movement.”

They said he could never win in Iowa because the population is 95 percent white ... they were wrong.

Barack Obama is not about being white or black, Democrat or Republican, he's about all of us being united together in one common purpose.

He is about all that is good in our country.

Caroline Kennedy endorsed him saying she has finally found “a president like my father.”

Sometimes a gift is given to us, but we must be able to recognize it and accept it in the moment it is offered.

" The founding fathers was the poeple that founded this nation. One Nation Under God. Didn't say which god. I'm sure you can find that in the libary you work in. Forgot its on a lib college campus. That kicked out a consertive group of students. Recall the student that was not allowed to take finals? She didn't fit into a "model" student. A place of higher education my tail. It should be a place to think for yourself also. "

I wish I was as smart as you. You have an opinion on everything.
I also wish I had your job, so that I could get paid for putting my opinions in the Citizen. "

" Black American Muslims are less scary to me than white bread fundamentalist Christians. I really don't care if it's true he were raised Muslim, and I happily pledge allegiance to the flag without including the "under God" our Deist Founding Fathers would have found offensive.

No, my concerns with any and all candidates is the undue influence upon their decisions that comes with the big campaign contributions they get from corporate and other special interests. "

" Ms. Bennett, Are you aware that Barack Obama refuses to put his hand over his heart when our country's anthm is sung? Are you aware that when he was sworn in as senator, he would not swear on the Bible, but used the Koran instead? Are you aware he was educated as a child in Muslim schools? Do you realize his sympathies will be with these countries when making decisions in regard to our safety?Do not be fooled by his very broad, feel good remarks. This man would be dangerous as president of the United States. Pray hard that he is not nominated by the democrats! "
