On-site renewable energy electricity generating systems can reduce utility costs, increase home comfort, provide security if a blackout occurs, and contribute to a cleaner environment.
A forum for homeowners, farmers and rural landowners, sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County, explains these systems and their benefits from 9:15 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Lasca's Restaurant on Grant Avenue in Auburn.

How to select the appropriate system based on site and budget as well as available grants, low interest loans, and the application process will be discussed.

Presentations include: Introduction to the Alternative Energy Landscape, Grasses for Bio-fuels, Geothermal Energy Systems, Solar/Wind Energy Systems, and NYSERDA Funding and Incentives-Grants, Loans, and the Application Process. The forum will wrap up with a question-and-answer session.

Cost to attend is $10, including lunch. Preregistration is required by March 10, call Jeannie Baker at 255-1183.
