The Port Byron volleyball team defeated Cato-Meridian 3-1 on Wednesday.
The Panthers took the first match 25-20 and the Blue Devils came back to take the second match 25-17, but the Panthers won the next two 25-18 and 25-20.
Leading the Panthers were Ashley Leja, who earned two aces, six kills, seven digs and one assist. Also scoring for the Panthers were Courtney Christina with one kill and one dig, Ryan Mirabito scored six aces and two digs, Brittany Bigness ended up with two aces, two kills, seven digs and 15 assists, Kara Pitcher finished the match with one ace, two kills and one assist, Brooke Hamm took home three aces, eight kills and five digs, Brit Timms scored two digs and Kelsea Pitcher had four digs to finish out the victory.
Leading the Blue Devils was Becca Meyers, who earned one ace, two assists, one kill and three digs. Also scoring in the loss was Ruth Kazulak by scoring three kills and one block, Megan Post grabbed two aces, one assist and six digs, Megan O'Keefe scored four aces and five kills, Shelby Klaben finished up with two aces, one assist, four kills and six digs, Danielle Halstead took home two digs, Arielle Williams earned two assists, one kill and 13 digs and Janea Parsons ended the match with one ace, six assists and five digs.
The Blue Devils (3-12) travel to Lafayette today.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Port Byron 60, Jordan-Elbridge 49
It was a non-league win for the Panthers with Brad Anderson leading the way, scoring 20 points.
Also scoring for the Panthers was Frank Smart with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The top scorers for the Eagles were Jeff Doyle with 13 points and Tyler Williams ending the game with 12 points.
The Panthers (8-9) will host Cato-Meridian on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Auburn 73, Ithaca 64
Kelly Grinnell led the Maroons with 24 points and Taylor Baran had a career high of 21 points in the win on Tuesday.
Caitlyn Jacobs chipped in with 11 points and seven steals and Jeanice Freeman added 10 points and 15 rebounds.
The Maroons will play in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament this weekend in Central Square with Friday night's first round match-up against Fayetteville-Manlius.
