Snow, sleet, ice expected for Friday
The National Weather Service has removed a winter storm watch that had been in effect for Cayuga County, but it still has a winter weather advisory in place for most of the day Friday.
In southern Cayuga County, the advisory runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. In northern Cayuga County, it runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In the southern half of the county, NWS said, snow and sleet will move into the region during the morning before changing to freezing rain. About an inch of snow and sleet is expected, and ice accumulation could reach a quarter of an inch.
