The Hangar Theatre is hosting Equity and non-Equity auditions for its 2008 summer season.
Non-musical auditions will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Ithaca High School, Kulp Auditorium.

Musical auditions will be held the following day, Sunday, Feb. 3, in the same location. Actors who wish to be considered for both should attend only the musical call. To arrange an audition time, call (607) 273-8588 ext. 440 Monday or Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Or arrive at 10 a.m. on the audition day to schedule a time.

Candidates need to be available later in the day for callbacks. One-minute monologues should be prepared for non-musical auditions, or a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a Rogers and Hammerstein song for musical auditions. Sheet music, a current headshot and resume should be brought to auditions. E-mail artistic@hangartheatre.org, or visit www.hangar

theatre.org for more information.

Armory Square Playhouse is looking for scripts to be presented as part of its ongoing new plays reading program at the Redhouse in Syracuse. Scripts may be dramas, tragedies, comedies or experimental, but not musicals. Payment is between $10 and $50 per reading depending on size. Scripts should be sent in standard format (no e-mails or attachments) to: David Feldman, artistic director; Armory Square Playhouse; 200 Edgemont Drive; Syracuse, NY 13214.

The Cayuga Museum announced the award of a matching grant of $49,550 from the Environmental Protection Fund for the renovation of the carriage house in the rear of the museum property. The museum plans to return the ground floor of the building to use as a 120-seat community theater, and restore the second floor to its historic appearance as Theodore Case's experimental sound production studio. The grant is distributed through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The Extended School Day program at Casey Park Elementary School will present the musical “Of Mice and Mozart” on Feb. 8. Written by well-known children's composers Michael and Jill Gallina, the show uses familiar tunes by Mozart with upbeat and comical lyrics to teach the history of the man and the period. Twenty eight students in grades 3 through 5 have been working on the show since early October.

Auburn Public Theater is co-sponsoring #“Notes on the Motherland#” at The Irene A. Bisgrove Community Theater at Cayuga Community College, at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. Tickets $15 and $10 for student/seniors and are available at the door.

This is the final weekend for “The Left Hand Singing” at Appleseed (492-9766) and “The Lieutenant of Inishmore” at Syracuse Stage 443-9844). Meanwhile Kitchen ((607) 273-4497) is running its original musical “Bed, No Breakfast” through Feb. 10; and Salt City (475-9749) is at the New York State Fairgrounds with “I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.”

Through Feb. 10, Geneva Theatre Guild will present “They're Playing Our Song” Feb. 7 and 8, and The Auburn Players Community Theater will run Arthur Miller's “All My Sons” Feb. 15 through 24.
