Creekside Books & Coffee of Skaneateles is soon to introduce a new women's section, filled with inspirational books for women with stories and subject matter about and by women.
Speaking of inspiring women, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new section is to follow the launch of Laura's List, Laura being Laura Ponticello of Skaneateles.
Ponticello is a freelance writer “with a special affection for writing inspirational stories,” according to book review Web site curledup.com. She has bachelor's degrees in anthropology and sociology from Canisius College.
Now what do you ask is Laura's List? Laura's List is a list composed of books meant to “inspire and empower women,” according to the bookstore website. “I invite you to indulge in thought-provoking subject matter and books that inspire or enrich a woman's life,” reads a website greeting by Ponticello.
“The books selected for your enjoyment are about women overcoming odds and serving as trailblazers to reinforce that happiness is within reach.
“You may cry, leap for joy or grab a friend to engage in conversation about these selected reads. One thing is certain; my most thought provoking recommendation will make you believe that anything in life is possible with faith,” Ponticello says in a letter to her readers on the Creekside Web site. “Join me in the journey to inspire, ignite and empower women through great reads.”
On Laura's List for January: “Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust” by Immaculae Ilibagiza, “Steve & Me” by Terri Irwin, “Choosing Happiness: Keys to a Joyful Life” by Alexandra Stoddard, and “French Women Don't Get Fat” by Mireille Guiliano.
