Media day isn't known for being all football, you get some "interesting" people asking questions.
Pats QB Tom Brady was asked "How's your zen-ness?
Then a woman in a wedding dress proposed marriage.
Deion Sanders, who works for the NFL Network, joked around with Pats LB Junior Seau.
Guess Prime Time is a morning person.
Randy Moss got an award from Entertainment Tonight, for being the best performer from West Virginia.
From having been involved in mass media sessions, the "comedy" can make a long day a little more fun.
We'll see how the Giants handle the horde later today.

Turns out they had a roast for Mike and Mike, the ESPN Radio duo (why? but that's for another time).
Jacobson, who reportedly had a few drinks, made comments using a profanity that begins with f, making reference to Mike Golic's Notre Dame roots.
Basically, she referred to Jesus, but with a naughty word in front of the name.
That earned her a week-long suspension.
Dean Martin, where are you?
So for those scoring at home, that's 2 controversial remarks in 2008, one on the Golf Channel, the other by a ESPNer, off air.
Somehow, I know it will be on You Tube eventually.
Then the stuff will really hit the fan. "

With NYC being the nation's No. 1 media market and the Packers having a national following, this could be one of the highest rated conference championship games ever.
Nationally, critics are asking why Fox didn't show Giants kicker Lawrence Tymes after his game-winner went through the uprights, instead, focusing on QB Eli Manning.
Good point, I admit, I was wondering too, because you always see the kicker after a OT FG.
But the soap opera known as Eli Manning took priority.
Overall, Fox was good, conveying how cold it was in Green Bay.
I'm surprised Jimmy Johnson's hair didn't shatter into pieces in the sub-zero temperatures.
As for the AFC game, CBS was OK, there wasn't any suspense, we all knew the Patriots were going to win.
Now we have to suffer through 2 weeks of hype before the big game.
I'm sure the Giants will use the double-digit point spread as a motivational tool, saying, we don't get any respect.
Please, we hear that every Super Bowl from the underdog.
Fox hopes SB XLII is as half as good as the first Pats-Giants game.
Hope you all have a good week and I'll try to do some updates during the week.

Defending Supercross champion James "Bubba" Stewart is likely OUT FOR THE SEASON with nagging problems from his knee injury forcing him to withdraw from today's race!
The season is wiiiiide open! Who will take it? Chad Reed? Kevin Windham? Or an as-of-yet unnamed pretender to the throne?

Variably cloudy with light snow flurries possible. Cold. Wind chills may approach -20F. High 6F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph.
Sunday night: Partly cloudy skies. Low -1F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
You have to feel for the cameramen and any other support person who has to work the NFC Championship game.
Just imagine, you're watching the game, and it's a big 3rd-and-goal and a TV cable snaps because of the cold.
You figure Fox has backups ready to go.
You might want to slip a tape in the VCR or hit the record on the DVR.
Tomorrow's Giants-Packers game has the potential to be historic, Ice Bowl II possibly.
Not that the Pats-Chargers game is going to be played in balmy conditions but as anyone who's lived in our area knows, there's a big difference between the 20s and single digits.
Fans know what to expect from the broadcast teams.
Fox has Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, the top team in the NFL.
CBS has Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, a solid duo.
Lets hope for competitive games which make for better broadcasts.
And going from the TV to the radio, if you're a sports fan, you probably listen to sports talk radio.
On Monday, Tony Kornheiser returns to a Washington, DC station for his classic radio show.
He used to be on ESPN Radio in Syracuse.
If you want to listen from 8-10 a.m., go to http://www.3wtradio.com/
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Broome-Tioga was like, the coolest place you could go to in August of any year. Last year they were outbid by some really craaaappy track down in Texas---flat, no hills, no trees anywhere, just scrubland--and it didn't happen. I almost cried. Just another reason to hate all things Texan!
The year before I watched the "G.O.A.T." (Greatest Of All Time) Ricky Carmichael crash behind James Stewart and, even though he already had clinched the Championship in the previous moto, run down Bubba from a 12 second deficit and pass him right in front of me for the win! I screamed like a little girl who had her Barbie stolen! It was a display of heart and desire that I have never seen anywhere before in any sport, with the possible exception of that tiny American gymnast Kerry (?) who did another great vault on a severely sprained ankle to win the gold. This Sunday's NFL conference championship games have plenty of compelling storylines on the field but as TV matchups, the networks have to be disappointed.
CBS dreamed of another Pats-Colts tilt, Brady vs. Manning, the defending Super Bowl champs against the 17-0 team in search of a perfect season.
Many would have called the AFC title game the REAL Super Bowl.
Now, they're stuck with a banged up Chargers team that may be without its starting QB and marquee running back.
True, a lot of fans will tune in to see the Pats try for 18-0 but more casual fans would have checked out the game if the NFL's top two QBs for commercials were playing.
Fox has to be in the dumps too. Losing the Cowboys hurts -- a lot.
A Dallas-Green Bay NFC title game in single digit temperatures at Lambeau Field would have been Ice Bowl II.
The Cowboys, like the Yankees, bring in a national audience and in prime time, could have been an all-time high TV rating for a conference title game.
Now, while the Giants play in the nation's No. 1 media market, they don't draw worth anything outside the Empire State (and NJ).
Brett Favre is the feel-good story of the NFL season and some will watch to see a game played in Arctic Circle like conditions but Dallas-Green Bay would have been awesome.
Fox has the Super Bowl and they want Packers-Patriots, Favre vs. Brady, the Pats going for 19-0 vs. Green Bay's national following.
We'll see what happens.

CBS has major $$$ involved with the Pats.
They draw HUGE ratings.
CBS is salivating over a Colts-Pats AFC title game.
Nantz and Simms are OK tonight, although I am partial to Simms' analysis.
Oops, Pats just scored a TD to go up 21-14.
CBS is very happy. "

NFLN is reairing old Super Bowl games as they aired on the networks.
Instead of NFL Films highlight shows (which are great), these are the games as you originally saw them, announcers and all (too bad they couldn't include the commercials).
They've already aired SB III when Joe Namath and the Jets upset the Colts.
Hearing the late great Curt Gowdy is a treat and seeing the old-time graphics is cool too.
NFLN needs to do more of this, instead with regular season and playoff games.
I do know they sell some classic games on DVD, including the Bills' miracle rally against the Oilers in the 1993 playoffs. Check out nflshop.com, then click on dvds.
Wouldn't you love to see more games from the 60s, 70s and 80s?
When I find out what other classic SBs are airing on NFLN, I will post that info.
Enjoy the weekend everyone/

If you didn't, she said on air, that young players wanting to challenge Woods should "lynch him in a back alley."
Obviously, it was a horrible choice of woods. The Golf Channel has suspended Tilghman for two weeks, and rightfully so.
Of course, any time a racial comment is made, the Rev. Al Sharpton has to get involved.
He wants Tilghman to be fired.
For the record, Woods said it was a non-issue and considered it done.
Tilghman is also friends with Woods.
Now, you want to believe Tilghman's remarks were just a slip of the tounge.
This wasn't like Fuzzy Zoeller's remarks back in 1997 when he said Woods shouldn't serve fried chicken or collard greens at the Masters Champions Dinner.
Of course, Zoeller, had a drink in hand when he said that.
There are times in life when we say something wrong and wish we could take it back.
Tilghman made a mistake, she knows it, she is paying for it and has been forgiven by Woods.
That should make it history.
What Don Imus said was grounds for dismissal, not Tilghman's remarks.
Sharpton should be concerned with more important issues in this country.

And now for the responses from the "special" people.

DD, I am quite familiar with the posters on The Citizen's web site so I know the talk can get rough and tumble.
As for Clemens on 60 Minutes, I thought Mike Wallace actually did a good job with the interview, it wasn't a Larry King softball fest.
If Clemens wants to clear his name, then take the lie detector test.
It would be a great ESPN special. Have the lie detector set up on the mound at Yankee Stadium.
I hope to post more often as time allows. I would have loved to offer some comments on the BCS game but I went to Chuck Savage's wake, which was attended by hundreds of people.
RIP Chuck, one of Auburn's biggest baseball and sports fans.

My name is Chris Sciria and I am assistant news editor here at The Citizen. But before that, I spent 10 years as the newspaper's sports editor where, from time to time, I was known to write a column that was devoted to sports on TV.
I was the guy in 1998 who learned what Nielsen DMAs are in an effort to figure why Buffalo Bills games can be blacked out in Syracuse but not in Binghamton. By the way, DMA means designated market area.
Like you, I enjoy watching a good game on the tube. And the business of sports on TV can be as much fun as the games themselves.
If you remember my writing style, you know I can be funny, analytical, critical and a little preachy from time to time.
So, I hope you tune in to this blog from time to time and enjoy what we have to offer.
Of course comments are always welcome, feel free to share your opinion.
