HIT: To the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center's annual “Both Ends of the Rainbow” exhibit, which officially kicked off last weekend.
This show brings together locally created art from the area's youngest and oldest residents.
It offers a terrific showcase for local artists, and provides a nice family attraction during a sometimes slow time of year for such things.
It's also nice to see an event that truly brings people of all ages together.
MISS: To a pair of tragedies that took the lives of two young residents, both with ties to Cato, within two days of each other.
The community is grieving the deaths of Nathan Vargason and Andrew Mapley. Vargason, 22, who had recently moved to Auburn from Cato, died in an accident late Thursday night. Mapley, 18, who still lived in Cato, lost his life in an early Saturday morning crash.
It reminds us all to cherish the moments we have with loved ones.
HIT: To the winners of the annual Citizen Masters bowling tournament, Becca O'Donnell and Mike Ryan.
Once again, the tournament brought out the best in local bowlers, and it brought the local bowling community together for an exciting competition.
There were so many compelling storylines throughout this event, and the drama on the final day didn't disappoint.
HIT: To the strong turnout Sunday for the benefit for Adam Lepak and his family.
Lepak is rehabilitating in New Jersey after an October motorcycle accident. Though he couldn't be at Sunday's event, we're sure he felt the love of the community hundreds of miles away.
A recent Weedsport High School graduate, Lepak loves music, and there was plenty of it on display at the benefit.
Thanks to everyone involved, from the volunteers who put it together to the people who attended just to help another person in need.
