A bomb threat closed Auburn High School a little early Monday, and police are trying to determine the person responsible.
Students were released at 2 p.m. - about 20 minutes earlier than normal - after remaining in lockdown since the morning because a note was found stating a bomb was in the building.
School administrators called the early release a precautionary measure.
Any after-school activities were canceled, as well.
The Auburn Police Department is investigating the incident. The person responsible could face a felony charge of false reporting.
After the note was discovered, school resource officers searched the building with dogs, looking for any thing unusual.
They cleared the building by 2 p.m.
The Auburn Enlarged City School District's lockdown procedures for bomb threats or threatening persons is for teachers to gather students in classrooms' corners, lock their rooms' doors and keep an account of who is in their rooms.
