SKANEATELES - Celebrating winter in Skaneateles is sometimes more about food and drink than ice and snow.
Various locations in the village were part of Skaneateles' WinterFest 2008, an all-day affair that featured a huge array of activities: Food, beer, wine and coffee tastings at area restaurants and shops; Crafts, swimming, skating and vehicle displays at the Skaneateles Community Center; and an assortment of other festivities too numerous to name.
The annual WinterFest, now in its fifth year, is sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary Club, which solicits local stores, restaurants and community organizations each year to participate.
"One new thing this year is all the tastings, which we have more of than ever before," Tom Seeley, Rotary member, said prior to the event.
WinterFest was originally held just at the community center, Seeley said, but through the years has branched out to numerous village locations.
