Former Syracuse University head football coach Paul Pasqualoni has accepted the defensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins.
Pasqualoni, who served as the Orange's head coach from 1991 until 2004 and as an assistant from 1987-'91, was the tight ends coach for the Dallas Cowboys and was credited for the development of Pro Bowler Jason Whitten.
Most recently, Pasqualoni was the linebackers coach for the Cowboys this season.
The Connecticut native is the latest Cowboys coach to follow Bill Parcells to Miami, after Tony Sparano accepted the head coaching position last week.
Pasqualoni gets a chance to run a defense that finished 30th in the NFL in points allowed, 23rd in total yards and last in stopping the run.
He will also be reunited with former Syracuse defensive back Will Allen and linebacker Kevin Smith.
