Two Cents

Thank God Walsh is out of there, that Sherwood Boehlert clone. He was good once, but he changed to a Communist fast.

Here we go again with the turf war. It wasn't any good last year and it's not any good now.

It would be nice to see a health section daily or at least a weekly column.

If you really needed synthetic turf, you should have gone over and gotten what they took off the Alliance Bank field in Syracuse, and you probably could have gotten it for free.

You people might as well shut the paper down if you give in to politicians that don't like the Two Cents in the paper. Any paper that does that is no longer the free press; you are their pawn.

" The turf is about the same as a new bridge..first we have to fund the bridge-so the tax payers pay a toll for the bridge for the next 10yrs, with a promise from our politicians, it will end. BUT, when the bridge is paid off-the toll doesn't end because now the politicians say we have upkeep on the bridge PLUS the TOLL GOES UP because of the inflated repairs have gone up in 10yrs. The TOLL will NEVER END! "

Actually, The Everglades cover aproximately 2,357 miles, so where exactly are you selling? Is it close to a Wegmans? Please contact me through the Citizen. "

" State aid comes from your tax dollars and all taxpayers in the state. Your local tax dollars come only from Auburn taxpayers. If you never ask for the use of state tax dollars then all the other communities in the state spend your money for their projects and you get nothing. "

" I could be proud of our school district if it showed more effort towards whats INside the brain rather than how broad the shoulders are. Concession stand, turf, whatever, it will be put up for us again to vote - the turf will be the pork so everyone will have to make sure and read the fine print. People dont leave Auburn cuz of turf, they leave because there really is a bunch of ring wrong ding dongs that think they rise above us for some reason be it arrogance or lack of actually having had to pinch pennies maybe at least once in their illutrious lives. "

" I stand by my figures, in fact if I am untruthful I challenge you to put up your own figures. The figures I revealed were recommended by the Long Range Committee which is Chaired by Mike Stearns. This recommendation was also approved by JD Pabis and the Board of Education 7 to 2 "

erine wrote on Jan 25, 2008 9:13 AM:

" Jerry Morgan needs to get his facts straight. There is not any plans to build a concession stand for $587,000. And if the people of Auburn want to belive him, I have swamp land in Florida for everyone to buy. Why do the people of Auburn belive what this man is saying with out finding out the facts first. Why shouldn't we provide the very best academically and for our athletics. Why can't we look at the positive and not the negative. Let's be proud of our school district and our community. "

" Turf or no turf, my wife and I recently retired and about three months ago satrted looking for a smaller house outside of Auburn, for alot of reasons mentioned in the posted comments the last few days. Yes, my wife and I will vote when the turf issue comes up, we donot see any economic build up coming from a football stadium. Bigger companies(better paying jobs) coming to Auburn, more business coming to downtown, less crime and drugs in the city and less taxes, that would keep the young here and maybe stop the others from leaving. This a beautiful area Brew and people will continue to leave the area unless theres more to offer them to stay than a football stadium. PS, the money they want to spend on a concession stand, a person could go on East Lake road and buy a house on the lake for that kind of money. "

" I find it amusing that a lot of the folks posting thier two cents on here regarding the turf use the argument "It's State money, if we dont use it someone else will". Well where do you think the State gets that money? YOUR TAXES, so whether the state pays or the school district pays, the reality is WE are paying, and through the nose too! "

Man, I gotta tell ya--whoever has this obsession with communism is the greatest comedian Auburn has had in years! Geez, if you're not a "liberal", you're a "communist"! HAHAHAHHAH! What a marooooooon!!! "

" Take a poll at the high school and ask the kids that are going to graduate in the next four years how many of them will be leaving Auburn for college, jobs, warmer climate, lower taxes, etc. and how many are going to stay in Auburn because they have turf at Holland stadium. How many people have already moved out of Auburn for the same reasons, are they going to move back because of turf? "

" I agree with the Health section and columnist. I was sent an email by the paper saying that they have these in place. In all reality they do not. They have more emphasis on politics than anything else. I do not see anything on a daily basis like they claim and if so it's not up to par. "

SAM GIANGRECO IS RIGHT, FIX IT NOW WITH STATE $$$ OR LET IT GO AND YOULL WIND UP PAYING OUT OF YOUR POCKETS FOR THE REPAIRS! GREAT TO SEE THAT THEY WILL REVIVE AND UTILIZE ONE OF AUBURN'S RARE TREASURES FOR ALL OF CNY TO USE (AND MAKE $$$ OFF OF TOO!) "

" Congressmen Walsh's long life in Washington is the voter's fault. TERM LIMITS (YOU VOTE EVERYONE OUT AFTER THREE TERMS IN CONGRESS) regardless; if they are that good---let them run for another elected position so that the element of HONESTY within that elected office stays forefront. Former President Gerald Ford in his last written letters that could not be open until he died states that President Jimmy Carter was an elected mistake because he had no brains, just like our current idiot in Washington. And the TURF, you need something to build on---so let the issue become a reality for money(economy buildup) is just a step away. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Jan 24, 2008 2:41 PM:

" I always thought Jimmy Carter was less effectual as a President than many would have liked because he was too honest. How do you work with the best Congress the corporations and PACs can buy if you are honest? I have to agree -- he was and is a good man, a VERY rare trait in a President, in my cynical opinion. "

" Lol, when they ripped that turf off the stadium in Syracuse, the same thought crossed my mind. Beggars cant be choosers. And I am sorry to all the nay sayers, but Jimmy Carter is and was a great man that was perhaps too ahead of his time. "
