Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons plans to build a location in Auburn this year.
The city Planning Board will conduct a public hearing on the preliminary application to add a 2,400 square-foot store at 150 Grant Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5. The address is shared by the Walgreens pharmacy at the corner of Grant and Seward avenues.
HDL Property Group of East Syracuse has long had plans to develop the empty lot next to the pharmacy built in 2006. Developer Guy Hart Jr. was not immediately available for comment Wednesday, but previously indicated his company was preparing the site for construction in early 2008.
Founded in 1964 as a coffee and donut shop, Oakville, Ontario-based Tim Hortons now operates 345 restaurants in the U.S. and 2,733 in Canada, according to the corporate Web site. The menu has also grown to include soup and sandwiches.
Tim Hortons representatives were also unavailable for comment Wednesday.
The city Planning Board will also consider requests for a building addition, minor subdivision, home business zoning variance and a preliminary application from Rite Aid for a location at Genesee Street and Dunning Avenue at the public hearing Feb. 5.
