Winning ways continue for Weedsport volleyball

Heidi Robinson had eight aces, seven kills, 11 assists and four digs as the Weedsport volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Onondaga Tuesday.
The Warriors won the sets 25-18, 25-13, 20-25 and 25-8.

Also leading the Warriors was Chelsea Paquette with six kills and three blocks, Anna Wilson with two aces, four kills, seven assists and four digs and Murphy Enos with four kills, two assists and five digs.

Weedsport (11-2 overall, 7-0 in division) has clinched the division title and is looking forward to a game against Tully on Thursday.

“Tully is a solid and tough team, we have a difficult game ahead of us,” Weedsport coach Sandy Donahue said.

LaFayette 3, Port Byron 0

Ashley Leja led the Panthers with seven kills, four digs and one assist in the 15-25, 9-25 and 21-25 loss.

Courtney Christina had one ace, two kills and one block. Ryann Mirabito had one ace, seven digs and five assists.

Brittney Bigness had one ace, two kills, one dig and four assists. Kara Pitcher had two aces, two digs and one assist. Brooke Hamm had four aces, four kills and one dig and Britt Timms had one dig. Kelsey Pitcher added four digs and one assist for Port Byron.

The Panthers (8-7) travel to Manlius Pebble Hill Friday.

Faith Bishop Ludden Tournament

Faith Heritage 3, Weedsport 2

The Warriors fell to Faith Heritage Saturday with scores of 25-22, 14-25, 26-24, 23-25 and 22-25, placing them second in the Bishop Ludden Tournament.

Heidi Robinson had six aces, 12 kills and 10 assists. Chelsea Paquette added six aces, eight kills and two assists. Anna Wilson had two aces, three kills and 12 assists and Rebecca Relfe finished with three aces and nine kills in the final game.

Earlier in the day, Weedsport defeated Bishop Ludden 25-6, 25-11. In the second round, they defeated Bishop Grimes 25-13, 25-16 and then split the final game of the round robin with Faith Heritage 25-16, 18-25.

Robinson and Paquette were selected to the all-tournament team.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pulaski 48, Cato-Meridian 22

Meghan Meeks led the Blue Devils with six points. Jessica Brand and Jessica Griffiths each chipped in with five points.

Cato-Meridian (3-10) hosts Tully Thursday.

" I cannot beleive that The Citizen has not mentioned that the Cato-Meridian Wrestling team is ranked 10th in the State! Moreover they are ranked #3 in Section 3 Division 2 and are the #5 seed in this weekends Section 3 Duals at RFA. Cayuga county DOES go above the Seneca River! "
