We were delighted to hear the decision by Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., to discontinue selling cigarettes and other tobacco products. As health care providers for children, we see the health of the entire family as our mission. We encourage parents to quit smoking when their children come to us as outpatients and inpatients and offer as much help as we can.
Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do when the smoking message is so prevalent in advertising, movies and stores.
Any steps taken in the community to curb smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke is applauded by us.
Thank you, Wegmans.

Wegman's decision will hopefuly be emulated and imitated all across the nation. I'd like to see the day when cigarettes are available only through a doctor's prescription as a means of delivering nicotine for some as-of-yet-undiscovered remedy for....? "
