In regard to the story printed in The Citizen on Dec. 30:
It is inconceivable not to have an Auburn Memorial Hospital. I personally feel we the citizens of Auburn are very fortunate to have a facility so close with so many knowledgeable and caring people.
A director of the organization so diversified must be daunting. In my opinion an oversight committee would be an asset to the administration.
Asbestos scandal: I am perplexed. I realize we the citizens of Auburn will probably never know what really happened.
The district attorney's office will deny it but it's undeniable. Politics play a big part in 2006. In my opinion it's nothing more than a cover-up. The gentleman, for want of another term, that supervised the removal of asbestos and, lest we not forget, Mr. C's job classification was one step above the day labor.
He was not a supervisor. This is a classic example of how far the system will go to distort the facts. My personal opinion is if Mr. F was in danger of being prosecuted it would have happened six months ago. If one is fortunate to get elected to city or county office, you're secure until you decide to resign.
I'm disappointed that our local newspaper chose not to investigate and report on the fiasco.
Our new mayor: We are now approaching a new era in Auburn politics.
I have known Mr. Quill for a few years. For an individual to advance to Auburn fire chief one must be a strong personality with deep commitment to his position in the city of Auburn.
It's quite possible Mr. Quill's desire to serve the citizens of Auburn and not a political party was the main thrust of his campaign.
At this juncture, perhaps the voters of the city of Auburn were voting against the incumbents. Mr. Quill is definitely not in lockstep with any political organizations.
