An Auburn man who police say stabbed a man in the back during a fight on New Year's Day has been charged with assault.
The Auburn Police Department arrested Michael A. Klock, 26, of 37 Sheridan Ave., Thursday on charges he allegedly assaulted a man with a knife at 2:15 a.m. Jan. 1 at Billy Dee's Bar and Restaurant at 33 Chapman Ave., Auburn.
Klock faces a second-degree assault charge. The victim identified Klock as his attacker, police said. Auburn Police officers arrested Klock after spotting him walking on Canal Street Thursday evening.
During the bar fight, another victim sustained stab wounds, but said he did not know who assaulted him. The Auburn Police Department is still investigating the stabbing of the second victim.

Both victims sustained non-life threatening wounds and went to University Hospital in Syracuse.
Police said a prior dispute between parties caused the fight.
Two other people were arrested last week for an unrelated stabbing in the wee hours of New Year's Day.
Andrew W. Bell, 26, of 1 Madison Ave. Apt. 1, Auburn, and John B. Dennis, 19, of 4 Orchard St. Apt. 1, Auburn, were charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession or a weapon, police said. They were arrested for alleged connections to a separate altercation at James and Clarks Streets that resulted in an 18-year-old man being stabbed.
The dispute, which authorities said took place at 1:08 a.m., started at a local house party on McMaster Street, according to the APD.
