The Auburn Police Department has detained a 14-year-old boy and is seeking two other suspects in connection with a robbery in a cab early Saturday morning.
The APD said the incident took place in a Duluxe Cab Co. automobile near the intersection of Walnut and Howard streets around 2 a.m. Police said three suspects assaulted a 27-year-old female victim and took her purse while sharing a cab.
One of the suspects also took money from the cab driver. All of the suspects fled on foot when the vehicle stopped.
The 14-year-old has been referred to Cayuga County Family Court on second-degree robbery charges. Police are seeking the other suspects, whom they have identified. The APD did not release any additional information about those suspects.
The assault victim was treated for minor injuries at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Her husband, 59, suffered chest pains after trying to intervene and was also taken to AMH for an evaluation.
