I enjoyed reading the article “Colvin served town for 48 years” about Donald G. Colvin, who was the town supervisor in Savannah for 48 years.
I do not think I have ever read an article about such a dedicated municipal employee before this one. Mr. Colvin is the kind of person who should be featured on the national news.
With so much corruption in civil service at the federal, state and town levels, hearing about Mr. Colvin would be a breath of fresh air for this nation.
I was also interested to read that Mr. Colvin overcame a stuttering problem, as did I.
I was helped by the Stuttering Foundation (www.stutteringhelp.org) as their Web site has a national listing of qualified speech therapists.
Also, this nonprofit organization has countless books and DVDs for adults, children and parents. Their toll-free helpline is (800) 992-9392.
I know that I am going to forward this article to the assignment desk at the news departments of all three major television networks in New York.
I hope that my letter inspires other to do the same. Donald Colvin should be a national role model for civil servants.
