Warriors turn up defense

Kaitlin Hammersly led the Weedsport girls basketball team with 18 points, 15 rebounds and four assists in a 62-20 win against Cato-Meridian Thursday.
Markie Kreplin finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for the Warriors while Allison Beardsley contributed with nine points and five assists and Katelyn Spingler added eight points.

“We did another nice job defensively.” Warriors coach Chris Vargason said.

Meghan Meeks led the Blue Devils with seven points while Dana Collier and Jessica Brand each added four points.

“It was one of those games in which our offense and defense both were clicking.” Vargason said.

Weedsport (7-4 overall, 5-2 in league) plays at Port Byron Tuesday.
