Elected officials should uncap oil wells in Texas

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 11:54 AM EST

Most of us are aware of the billions of dollars in profits that the foreign oil cartels are making as a result of the high gas prices we're paying.
It has been stated that Mobil/Exxon is the biggest profiteer. That company is owned by the Saudis and it is they (we're being told) “who are largely responsible for financing the terrorists in both Iraq and Pakistan.”

Therefore, how can we continue to stay blind, unwilling to see ... when the evidence is blatantly obvious?

We're actually paying through our taxes for both the war, as well as paying through high gas prices ... for the terrorists who are fighting us! (In other words: It's our own money that's being used for both sides of the war!)

This fact is known by every member of Congress.

Our elected officials are also aware that this country has hundreds of capped oil wells in Texas that back in the '50s and '60s were drilled with taxpayers' monies.

They've stayed “capped” all these years because our government chose to deplete the oil reserves of other parts of the world first.

We can tap those reserves because there's more than enough oil there while we're developing energy efficient fuels to replace our dependency on oil.

What was true of early politicians is no longer true today.

Today's politicians are no longer the ones who are hurting; it's middle-class Americans who are.

It's way past time for our elected officials to make some changes that should have been made a decade ago. Uncap those wells!
