A woman who had failed to appear in Cayuga County Court for almost two years was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for attempted drug sales.
Tamara Clark, 31, of Rochester, pleaded guilty in November 2005 to the felony of third-degree attempted sale of a controlled substance. She admitted at the time to handing drugs and money between an undercover police officer and her husband, Jimmie Clark, and was promised 3.5 years of incarceration for the plea.
But Clark then failed to appear in court in February 2006 for her sentencing. She was picked up on a bench warrant Dec. 30, 2007.
Judge Mark Fandrich also sentenced Clark to two years of post-release supervision and $320 in fees and restitution. Fandrich said in court that the elevated sentence was merited because of Clark's absence from the court.
