Ithaca playwright Michael Doliner will read “The Island” at the Icarus Theatre Ensemble's monthly play reading series at the Community School of Music and Arts in downtown Ithaca. The readings are held the first Monday of every month.
The Icarus Theatre Ensemble arrived on the Ithaca scene in 2001 with performances of Thornton Wilder's “Pullman Car Hiawatha” at the Hanger Theater and Truman Capote's “Thanksgiving Visitor” at the Johnson Museum at Cornell, among other productions. Beginning in 2002, the ensemble went on to produce three consecutive summer festivals hosted by the State Theatre. The plays presented covered a wide range of interests and styles from a varied array of playwrights, each one having an ensemble approach at the center of its creative spirit.
