Spirits Tavern will celebrate its 25th anniversary this weekend with two concerts. Stone Soul Foundation and Spider Murphy Band will take the stage on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. There will be a cover charge for each show.
The Stone Soul Foundation is a blues, funk and soul-injected hard rock quintet formed in 2002 in Auburn. They recently won a SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music Award) for best area rock band in 2007.
The next night, the Spider Murphy Band will reunite for a show. The blues rock band played Spirits often in the 1980s, when tavern owner John Stevens notes no other venue in Auburn offered live music. Stevens credits the band with helping Spirits get off the ground by packing in live crowds every weekend.
