Union Springs to host wrestling alumni
At 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, Union Springs will be having their Wrestling alumni recognition match.

Auburn players make 2007 all-stars

A group of high school football coaches put together first and second team all-stars for 2007.

Among them were selections from Auburn. First team offense quarterback Chris Gomez and wide receiver Matt Wild.

First team defense went to defensive back Matt Hoey, defensive linemen Ryan Button and Brendan O' Connor and linebacker Michael Miskell.

Second team offense awards went to offensive lineman Nick Lepak, running back Ismail Brooks and wide receiver Dave Foltz. Second team defense went to defensive backs Stefan Nguyen and Lamar Henry.

Babe Ruth seeks board members

Auburn Babe Ruth baseball is looking for new board members.

The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Knights of Columbus.

YMCA travel team taking registrations

The Auburn YMCA travel team is now taking registrations.

It is an eight week program, that meets from 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for interested parties in grades 3-6.

No experience is necessary and the coast is $40 per child, with a YMCA member discount available. There is a $100 family rate.

Practice begins the week of Jan. 7 and there will be no practice during February break.

Wrestling Fun Festival dates and locations are as follows:

Jan. 26, 8 a.m. to noon at Driver Middle School in Marcellus.

Feb. 2, 8 a.m. to noon at Driver Middle School in Marcellus.

Feb. 16, 8 a.m. to noon at West Genesee.

March 1, 8 a.m. to noon at Driver Middle School in Marcellus.

March 8, Year End Festival, to be determined.

Festivals are optional, participants may attend as many as they'd like. For more information, contact John Alberici at 253-6784.

Auburn softball hosting clinic

Auburn softball is putting on a pitching clinic from 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 7, 14, 28 and Feb. 4,11 and 25 at Seward Elementary School.

The cost is $3 per session and the clinic is for girls in grades three to eight that are in the Auburn school district.

Instruction is provided by the Auburn High School coaching staff, as well as current and former players. For more information, call Bob Lee at 255-6880.

Get a Doubledays championship ring

The Auburn Doubledays are giving their fans a chance to join in the celebration of their 2007 New York-Penn League Championship by purchasing championship fan rings.

The rings can be purchased by calling 255-2489 between 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Each ring costs $200.

A women's pendant is also available, which will look identical to the top of the ring and will be strung on a chain. The cost of the pendant is $175.
