Varsity hockey hold benefit
A pasta dinner will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today, at the Knights of Columbus on Market Street in Auburn.
The dinner will benefit the Maroons Varsity Hockey team. Donation is $6, and $4 for children under 10.
Patrons may eat-in or take-out.
St. Mary's cooking pasta for dinner
St. Mary's Church of Auburn will host a pasta dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Schrader Hall, 15 Clark St., Auburn.
The menu includes pasta, meatballs and sauce, salad and dessert. Cost for adults is $6, children under 12 are $4. Take-outs are available.
Christian women plan luncheon
“A New Year - A New Story” will be the topic of a luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Sunset Restaurant, 93 N. Division St., Auburn.
Cost is $12 inclusive, and a free nursery is available. Please bring child's lunch.

College to hold information session
Cayuga Community College will hold an Adult Information Session at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the Auburn campus, Franklin Street, Auburn.
Prospective part-time and full-time students can find out about degree and certificate programs, financial aid, options for taking classes and how to enroll. Refreshments will be served.
Space is limited and reservations are encouraged.

Correction officer exam April 12
A statewide competitive Civil Service exam for the position of correction officer trainee will be held April 12.
There are no minimum requirements for taking this written examination. However, at the time of appointment, testers must have passed the written exam, be 21 or older, a U.S. citizen and a resident of New York state and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Appointees must also have passed medical and psychological screenings, as well as a background investigation. Conviction for a felony automatically disqualifies an applicant. Misdemeanor convictions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 25.
The starting annual salary for a trainee is $34,329. After completing the eight-week training program, each officer receives a $200 lump sum payment.
Officers working at correctional facilities in the New York City area and select Mid-Hudson areas will receive an addition to their salary. There are also evening and night shift inconvenience pay programs.
