Auburn advances in Savannah Bank Tournament

Andrew Chadderdon scored the first goal on a pass from J.T. Foltz to help lead the Auburn hockey team to a 4-1 win over Penfield in the Savannah Bank Tournament on Friday.
Bobby Gage scored the second goal on a combined pass from Kevin Festa and Chris Clifford. Festa then scored an unassisted goal. Brandon Morgan finished the scoring for the Maroons on a pass from Frank Murtari and Sean Hogan.

Tommy Trowell had 18 saves.

Auburn (5-8-1) hosts Mamaraneck in the championship game, today.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Union Springs 65, Newfield 54

Julius McClary led the Wolves with 17 points, 19 rebounds and seven blocks. Pat Chandler put in 14 points, 12 of those coming off of three points shots.

Nick Schooley finished with eight points, nine assists and five rebounds.

Union Springs (9-1) travels to Lansing on Tuesday.

Moravia 38, Marathon 25

Pat Mott led the Blue Devils with nine points and five rebounds. Jeremy Stewart helped out with eight points and Taylor Mackey came down with eight boards.

Moravia (6-4) travels to Spencer Van Etten on Tuesday.

Weedsport 60, Manlius Pebble Hill 53

Sean Ashby led the Warriors with 19 points and nine rebounds in their win.

Weedsport (6-4) hosts Onondaga on Wednesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Southern Cayuga 71, Groton 36

Stephanie Morse led the Chiefs with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Beth Rocker also added 18 points, Lianna May had 17 points and Felicia Allen chipped in with eight steals and six assists.

Southern Cayuga (3-6) hosts Tioga, who is ranked ninth in the state, on Tuesday.

Moravia 44, Marathon 40

Deanna Drake led the Blue Devils with 20 points. Claire Hunsinger and Emilee Conner each helped out with six points.

Moravia (4-5) hosts Spencer Van Etten on Tuesday.

BOYS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL

Corcoran 67, Auburn 52

Mike Ferlenda led the Maroons with 12 points. Phazon Charles scored nine points and Conor Engle pitched in with eight points.

Brian Roe finished with six points and Nick Price led the way with seven rebounds and two points.

Auburn (4-4) travels to Fayetteville-Manlius on Monday.
