Winner chosen for book give away
There were 17 entries for The Citizen's contest to win a copy of “Dr. Gott's No Flour, No Sugar Cookbook” by syndicated columnist Dr. Peter H. Gott, MD. The winner is Barbara P. O'Hara of Auburn. She hopes to use the book to help get herself back into shape in 2008.
Wounded Healers group meets tonight
The Wounded Healers Bereavement Support Group will hold its annual Memorial Service from 7 to 9 tonight, at 17 Clymer St., Auburn. The event is free.

If you give a pint, you'll get a pound
This month, in celebration of National Blood Donor Month 2008, the American Red Cross and The New York /Penn Blood Region, are offering “Give a Pint -Get a Pound.” All presenting donors through Jan. 31 will receive a pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee when they donate, thanks to The Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation which is sponsoring this month-long offer. Each presenting donor will receive a coupon redeemable for a free pound of coffee.
The next scheduled blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Weedsport Presbyterian Church on Seneca Street in Weedsport. Several additional drives are scheduled throughout the month. To view the complete blood drive schedule, visit www.donatebloodnow.org.
Walking group meets each Wednesday
A wellness walking group will meet at 9 a.m. each Wednesday morning at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville. Interested walkers will meet at the visitor center for a morning exercise walk on the trails to walk a few miles. Afterwards, walkers are invited to stay and visit over coffee.
The walks are free with admission to the center, located at 8477 E. Mud Lake Road, Baldwinsville. To learn more, call 638-2519.

Fifties Plus Yoga with Georgia Stormes, RYT, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 7, 14 and 21, for $36; geared toward people 50 and older who prefer a slower paced class.
Gentle Yoga with Stormes, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 7, 14 and 21, for $36; suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Hatha Yoga with Connie Heagerty, CHT, from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 12, (six classes), or 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 9 through Feb. 13 (also six classes), for $72; for fitness and stress reduction, suitable for all ages.
Chi-Yoga-Nosis with Heagerty, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 12 (six classes), for $72; a unique combination of Tai Chi, gentle Hatha Yoga and guided visualization for stress reduction, fitness and health.
