Langler wasn't treated right by Cayuga County

Monday, December 31, 2007 11:16 AM EST

I was very upset to read in The Citizen on Dec. 22, 2007, of Lt. James Langler's termination. This is so wrong! I do not know if he made a mistake or not. I do know he has been a great asset to Cayuga County for many years and also, a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines. He worked in Washington, D.C. and guarded the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Have you taken into consideration all the good he has done for this county and his country? If he did do something unprofessional, has not he paid for that greatly already?
He has been suspended since spring 2007 and there has been much controversy from this too.

I know him as a kind, caring person and very dedicated to his chosen profession. Cayuga County residents will and have been the ones to lose

I certainly hope Lt. Langler will appeal this. It all sounds like Cayuga County politics at work again.

" Why not ask to view Lt. Langler's personel file - that would tell the truth behind this man's continued dedication to this county and the type of man he has always been! From the beginning of his career to March 9th of 2007, he always was and continues to be an asset to this county! The people who should be investigated here are the two that brought the charges against Lt. Langler to begin with! Funny how promotions were handed out to those two!...sounds like a plan that started a long time back by a few select and corrupt individuals! Thank you Ms. Bossard for saying something so real and true - Lt. Langler WAS NOT treated right by this county. I hope he appeals it! "

" Would it have made you any less upset if you read it in a different newspaper? Perhaps next time you should find an alternative media outlet to read your news if it truly makes you that upset. "

" I'd have to agree with you brew..Personally I don't care what merits one has had 10-20 years ago. A good person can turn bad just as a bad person can turn good. Yesterday is gone,What you do today & tomorrow is what matters! "

" This is a problem many vets have. They gave a sacrifice to their country for which we are greatful. But this is not a free pass for the rest of their life. Move forward and stop sitting on your laurels. We owe you respect and gratitude and your benefits as a former military employee and that is it. Take responsibility for your future. "
